Every day, it seems, another example of societal degradation moves from the alleys of variant lifestyles into the bright lights of Main Street.

Incredibly, many of these corrupted developments aren’t pushed to the back of the parade but placed in front as “proof” that liberation from core values is more important than a tradition built upon those core values.

It’s disgusting to so many of us, yet it should not be a surprise.

As Solomon wrote 3,000 years ago, there is nothing new under the sun.

That’s why I found strength this morning in Psalm 11.

Here’s what King David wrote:

When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do? The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; His eyes examine them.” (vv. 3-4)

You know, when were kids, there were times when bigger kids would pick on us and we wouldn’t like it at all. But then a parent or teacher would come to our defense and the culprit would face unwanted consequences.

Our arm or our face or our pride might still hurt for awhile, but we found comfort in knowing that we were not alone, that there WAS justice in the world and that wrong WOULD be made right.

We could go back to being kids and having fun rather than having to learn how to pursue “payback” time toward the bullies.

Listen, God has not abandoned us, even when tough times come.

He’s taking notes on who is naughty and who is nice.

The rest of Psalm 11 speaks of how people doing bad things to good people are storing up for themselves an eternal avalanche of payback to be imposed by the Lord. That’s why we should leave all that stuff to Him rather than seek revenge through our own efforts.

Our task is to trust and to serve in ways that reflect His goodness and character and purposes. Our task is to pursue upright attitudes and actions.

What will result?

“For the LORD is righteous, He loves justice; the upright will see His face.” (v. 7).

Listen, let’s focus on doing the things He wants. It’s HIS job to deal appropriately with those who don’t.

As always, I love you
Martin
