It’s good when we find a mechanic or plumber or accountant or some other service provider who we’re convinced is trying their best to do his or her best for us at a reasonable price.

Why is this so good? Because there are many service providers who aren’t looking out first for our interests.

I pray that you’re a person of high integrity who can be trusted to do all you can to protect the best interests of others.

Particularly when that “other” is the Lord.

There was an interesting, yet brief sentence about integrity in today’s reading from the One-Year Bible. King Josiah, one of Israel’s most faithful kings, had been inspired to launch a temple remodeling project and sent his advisors to the high priest at that time with a huge amount of money and instructions to start the project.

Josiah was convinced that God would stir workers’ hearts to do their best and in an honest manner. Listen to what Josiah said regarding his trust in those serving on the project:

“But they need not account for the money entrusted to them, because they are honest in their dealings.” (2 Kings 22:7)

To think that these guys were given, in effect, millions of dollars to rehab the temple and didn’t have to provide a daily spreadsheet of expenses is mind-blowing.

Talk about trust!

Are we viewed as this honest? Do people have absolutely no doubt as to our integrity?

Are they convinced that we’ll always do our best to serve them in a reasonable, unselfish manner?

Listen, one of our goals in life should be to establish an untainted reputation for honesty.

That way, people will be more likely to trust us when we talk with them about matters that don’t involve money…. such as with the Gospel.

You know how it is when others have talked to you about God and yet your stomach churned because of doubts about the person’s integrity.

Let’s keep that wrench out of the gears of our testimony. The Kingdom will be much better off.

As always, I love you
