One of the best ways to promote a Christian testimony is to work hard on the job.

Yes, we know that some people are inclined to do as little as possible and still keep their jobs.

But Christians should not be in that group.

For a lazy worker whom others know is a Christian is a poor testimony for faith.

And the stereotype of a loser hiding behind a facade of faith is reinforced in non-believers’ eyes.

Let’s all pledge to do better.

As in the best we can at our jobs.

Why? Because the world is predisposed to thinking we won’t.

Here’s the reason for this Morning Devotion. It’s a passage from today’s reading in the One-Year Bible.

“Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes.” (Proverbs 10:26 New Living Translation)

Your employer probably already has to deal with workers who don’t work hard enough.

Please make sure that you’re not on that roster.

There’s no need to hand him or her — and God — a glass of vinegar and ask them to “Drink up!”

As always, I love you
Martin
