Jesus said our words are the overflow of the hearts.

Is your heart pure? Or at least becoming more pure with each passing day?

This verse was in my devotional reading this morning:

“The Lord detests evil plans, but He delights in pure words.” (Proverbs 15:26)

When our words seek to honor God by helping others or praising Him, they are flavored with a purity of motive that delights Him.

When our words wound others or mislead others or reflect a decay of faith, delight is NOT what God is feeling about what we say.

Please think about speaking words today that would put a smile on Jesus’ face if He were standing next to you.

Live out the wisdom of Colossians 3:17 that instructs us — in whatever we do or say — to bring glory to God.

Pure doesn’t mean phony.

God doesn’t want us to say mushy, flowery words that mask the real sentiments of our hearts.

If we’re hurting and scared because of some difficult life situation, we can be honest with God and pray for strengthening of our struggling faith.

Being weak doesn’t make us foul.

Particularly if the weakness prompts us to press into the Lord more than ever and cry out as did the father of the demon-possessed boy who sought miraculous help from Jesus:

“How long has this been happening?” Jesus asked the boy’s father.

“He replied, “Since he was a little boy. The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.”

“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”

“The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:21-24)

The father’s humble, transparent, pure heart honored God.

Let’s be humble, transparent and pure today in our hearts.

God deserves our putting a smile on His face.

As always, I love you
Martin
