Think carefully the next time you face some hard times.

You just might be in the kiln rather than the dumpster.

Here’s what we all need to consider when we’re struggling:

“Fire tests the purity of silver and gold,
but the Lord tests the heart” (Proverbs 17:3).

Each of us can look back on some terribly distressing times in our lives when the cry of our hearts alternated between “Ouch!” and “Why?”

Such times are never desired.

But they are ordained.

God always wants the best for us and works through circumstances He allows so that we’ll become stronger, wiser, kinder, mellower and more fruitful for His Kingdom.

He tests us by allowing events that reveal to us and others who we really are.

If we remain faithful in the storm — kind toward others and strong against temptation — God won’t be surprised since He already knows our hearts.

But we just might be surprised at our growing faith if we endure the trials with Christ-minded diligence.

And so will those who observe our faith in action.

None of us invite God to build a kiln around us, but when He’s convinced it’s time for us to be be “fired” into a stronger faith, let’s not blame Him for our stress but instead call upon Him for the strength we need to reach the next level of spiritual maturity.

As always, I love you
Martin
