No, you won’t wear a tuxedo and fix your hair like Christopher Lloyd in “Back to the Future,” but you can be a very successful symphony conductor today with just a bit of prayerful thought and action.

I’m talking about the sanctifying of your thoughts, your words and your actions.

I’m talking about thinking first of how to honor God with your response to someone else’s thoughtless insult.

I’m talking about thinking first of how to honor God by not allowing a tempting glance to become a sinful gaze.

I’m talking about thinking first of how to honor God with your decision to protect Sunday’s tithe offering by not blowing part of it on some activity or thing that will do nothing good for your God or for your financial future.

Listen, when Colossians 3:17 becomes our decision compass — “Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it for the glory of God” — we become the Kingdom-minded symphony conductor that God desires and our world needs.

Here is the passage from my devotional reading today that prompted this message:

“Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song,
with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.
Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King!”
(Psalm 98:5-6)

We don’t need a harp or trumpets or a ram’s horn to make beautiful music before the Lord. We just need to make decisions that put Him first.

As always, I love you
Martin
