It’s a good thing to teach a Sunday School class or to lead a home fellowship group.

It’s also good to help plan a ladie’s day event for your congregation or to work hard at a church workday.

But if we do these things and then neglect the teaching of Proverbs 14:21, there is a flaw in our faith.

“Blessed are those who are kind to the needy.”

All kinds of churches need all kinds of volunteer efforts in order to have Sundays go smoothly or midweek gatherings to bear fruit.

But if we’re too focused on doing worship in an impressive way and claim we can’t take some time to help the needy, aren’t we missing the point of faith?

“Whatever you have done unto the least of these, you have done unto me,” Jesus said in Matthew 25.

Helping the needy IS worship, my friend.

Please contribute financially toward benevolence ministry at your congregation. Skip a purchased lunch once a week and you might have $30 a month to give toward food for the homeless.

Please give a bag of food blessing to a homeless person. We’ve started a “Bag of Blessings” ministry at SouthWinds Christian Church and it is making a difference, not only for the homeless person who receives the bag but also for the person giving the bag. Write to me if you’d like info on doing the same at your church.

Listen, Jesus wants you to care about the needy.

He did and that’s why He went to the cross for you sins.

And for mine.

Somebody needs your kindness today.

Please see that he or she receives it.

As always, I love you
Martin
