A certain glow about Him

To hear this Morning Devotion, please click here — A certain glow about Him

Do people see a difference in you and me after we’ve spent time in focused prayer?

They should.

I was reminded of this fact today while reading from Luke 9:29. Listen to these fascinating words:

“As He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

Jesus clearly had a very intimate prayer relationship with His Father. But in this Mount of Transfiguration event, the physical signs of the intimacy showed up in a more pronounced way.

I don’t presume that our clothes will appear as fabric spotlights after our times of prayer.

I do believe, however, that people should be able to tell from our expressions and attitudes that we have been with the Father in serious prayer.

This can be really hard to show at times of great personal difficulty, whether it be in the midst of physical calamity, marriage failure or legal threats against your business.

Wasn’t Jesus facing all sorts of threats and animosities in the days leading up to this mountaintop event? Of course, He was.

His prayer-fueled glow was not dimmed by the existence of challenges.

That is to be our goal, as well.

I’m planning on a focused time of prayer tonight when Lori gets home from work. Even though I’m facing some very stressful circumstances, I want there to be a glow overflowing tonight from a heart infused with love and inspiration because of the time of intimacy with the Father.

I pray that you, too, will enter into such a time and that your glow will show to all who see you.

As always, I love you
Martin
