It’s easy to forget how close even the most faithful of Christians are to eternal destruction.

We’re all one determined choice away from the path leading a forever of suffering.

Praise God, however, that we’re so frequently reminded from scripture and by the Holy Spirit about the stubborn grace of God seeking to deliver us from what we deserve.

God made the dangerous choice to give you a free will, even though He clearly desires to have your soul with Him forever and has countless times whispered to your spirit to turn away from sinful behavior.

I suppose that most of you reading this devotion don’t inhabit the gutters of life. But we all have seasons of stubborn sin, whether a smorgasbord of failure or just one stronghold/stumbling block sin.

It is in such seasons and toward such strongholds that we need to heed God’s call to repentance and cleansing, offered only because of His love, not because of our merit.

Let’s reject forever the lie of Satan that we don’t need to repent of our impurities.

The cost of such stubbornness is WAY too high and will link us to the horrible outcome experienced 2,600 years ago by those in Jerusalem who had chosen to reject God as the authority and protector of their lives.

“Your impurity is your lewdness and the corruption of your idolatry. I tried to cleanse you, but you refused. So now you will remain in your filth until my fury against you has been satisfied.” (Ezekiel 24:13)

Please, let it never be said that we refused God’s offer of cleansing.

People in ancient Jerusalem had experienced so much blessing and grace, despite their imperfections.

Yet they threw it all away because they threw away their attitude of submission to God, a tragedy beyond description.

Let’s make the right choice after we’ve made the wrong choice.

Eternity will be so much better this way.

As always, I love you
Martin
