What did you feed God yesterday?

Hopefully, it wasn’t leftovers.

Or even worse, crumbs from your plate of leftovers.

If you fed Him a bountiful meal of more than He asks for each week, then you were a great example to us all.

For God is worthy.

And He’s hungry.

What am I talking about?

Here’s a passage from today’s reading in the One-Year Bible.

“The Lord said to Moses, “Give these instructions to the people of Israel: The offerings you present as special gifts are a pleasing aroma to me; they are my food.” (Numbers 28:1-2 New Living Translation).

Because we live under the new covenant, you and I aren’t asked to bring animal sacrifices to the tabernacle/temple altar each Sunday. The need to feed God, however, is as real as ever although in a different form.

Our generous offerings of tithes and more (yes, Jesus commanded the tithe in Matthew 23:23) are the representations of a heart that recognizes the desire of God to see our sacrificial dedication to Him.

He is spirit and when the spirit of our heart wants to bountifully bless Him via tangible gifts to His church, His heart is nourished.

Please, consider serving up to God a larger portion next Sunday and in all the Sundays after that.

God fed the insatiable appetite of judgment with the gift of His perfect Son so that you and I don’t have to be on the rotisserie of hell forever.

Even if we don’t show the dedication of the poor widow who gave her last two coins, let’s at least give Him a tenth of all that He’s given us.

Listen, if somebody gave me a 10-piece carrot cake on the condition that I give one piece back to her or to him, do you think I’d accept the offer?

Absolutely!

You would, too.

Let’s feed God more.

Perhaps you’ll even give Him two pieces this Sunday.

As always, I love you
Martin
