It’s a sad thing that so many people – including many highly educated people – think that a clear stone is a better source of guidance for life than is the Creator of the Universe and the Bible He ordained.

Sedona, Arizona has a thriving tourist business based on thousands of people each week who walk and sit among large, red stone formations and think that’s where they’ll find wisdom for happy living.

Here is just one example of the many events that occur in Sedona.

Then there are millions of people buy millions of clear crystals in the delusional belief that crystals communicate truth. How that’s supposed to happen from something inanimate that you hold in your hand is beyond me.

Stones that are idols because they take the place of God in the heart of those bowing before them — it’s crazy sounding, but it’s real.

More that 700 years before Christ, the prophet Hosea recorded God’s thoughts on this corrupted worship of the inanimate instead of the eternally animate Father and Son.

Writing to the leaders and corrupted priests of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the Holy Spirit-inspired Hosea conveyed these words of God:

“They ask a piece of wood for advice! They think a stick can tell them the future! Longing after idols has made them foolish.” (Hosea 4:12)

Perhaps you don’t know anybody that looks at a rock in order to know how to live.

But chances are that you know someone who looks at an array of stars in order to know how to live, i.e., astrology and horoscopes.

There is one Rock who can show us how to live and His name is Jesus.

He’s not something created and inanimate.

He’s the Carpenter of creation and the Crafter of life.

Worship a rock?

Or worship the Rock?

I pray you’ll the choice that isn’t foolish in God’s sight.

As always, I love you
Martin
