I don’t know anybody who wants to miss the boat when it comes to eternal bliss.

Sadly, though, most people that you and I know will be stuck on a sinking ship when the “All aboard!” horn blasts for faithful believers called onto the S.S. Salvation.

It’s true that deliverance from destruction in eternity IS the fruit of a life pointed in the direction of faith.

There’s a compelling example of this truth in today’s daily Bible reading from Genesis 6-7.

“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD… Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God… Noah did everything just as God commanded him… And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.” (Genesis 6:8-9, 22, 7:5)

“Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; human beings and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.” (Genesis 7:23)

Noah and his family weren’t saved because they were perfect. In fact, the Bible is clear that this family was susceptible to sin just like everybody else.

Instead, Noah and his family were saved because Noah was obedient and didn’t live for sin.

Noah sought to please the Lord and obey what he was told.

Noah was faithful to his calling and that’s what secured his ticket on the ark.

You see, salvation is determined by the DIRECTION of our faith, not the perfection of our faith.

The minimum standard of perfection was satisfied vicariously for us when we confessed Jesus Christ as our Savior.

God promised after the Great Flood that He would never repeat the event, no matter how bad mankind became.

There is an even more cataclysmic event coming, though, a flood of God’s final judgment upon those who have chosen to reject the call to faithful obedience.

Please join me in the effort to walk blamelessly among the people of this world, walking with God, doing everything He commands us. That way, we won’t miss the boat when the “All aboard!” horn blasts.

As always, I love you
Martin
